A Night to Remember for the Raleighwood Newbie

Before I get into the snazzy details of my night, allow me to set the scene for you. In June I landed this awesome job doing social media and marketing at Raleighwood Media Group. I couldn’t have been more excited to be doing what I love and working with some pretty bad-ass women. A few weeks into the job, I got invited to join this Emerging Midtown Pilot Group. This group of young professionals would gather together once a month to network, learn from industry leaders, and engage with the local Midtown businesses. I was having a great time attending the Emerging Midtown sessions and meeting new people.

Fast forward three months, and I received a ticket (thank you, Raleighwood 😉) to Midtown Raleigh’s biggest bash of the year, the State of Midtown. It was hard to contain my excitement at the sheer fancy-pants vibe of the whole thing, and now I can’t wait to spill the beans about my awesome experience with you all!

My Magical Midtown Experience

State of Midtown isn’t just any event; it’s a platform for celebrating the successes of Midtown Raleigh’s small businesses and for people like me to learn from and connect with others. Bankers, lawyers, and professionals from various backgrounds all found their place here, showcasing the remarkable diversity of careers and expertise within our community.

One of the most memorable parts of the night was definitely the entrance. Upon our arrival, we were asked to choose a signature cocktail that would be ready for us upstairs. As we stepped out of the elevator, the cocktail was already on a platter waiting for us. From there we strutted down the red- carpet into the gorgeously decorated hall and patio where the party would begin. We danced, laughed, talked, and had some really good shrimp cocktail. Plus, there was a table full of desserts that absolutely satisfied my sweet tooth! The live band, Irresistible Groove, provided the perfect soundtrack to the night, and we couldn’t resist singing along to the classic covers that they were playing. As if that wasn’t enough, the photo booth was a huge hit. I mean, you couldn’t get me and my friends away from it (below)!

But you know what really made the night? The people. I chatted with folks from all walks of life, and their passion for Midtown Raleigh was infectious. We talked shop, explored ideas, and even cooked up some plans for the future. Some of us may have ended up having an after-party and discussing even more! It was truly a blast and I can’t wait to see my new friends at the next event.

You Have to Join Me Next Year

The State of Midtown event was an absolute showstopper. As soon as I stepped into the venue, I could feel the energy in the air, and I knew it was going to be a night to remember. I am thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of this dynamic group and I hope that more young professionals will continue to join Emerging Midtown. The experiences, connections, and memories made within this group are invaluable!
