The Art of the RSVP: Raleighwood’s Raleigh Magazine Feature

Raleighwood Media Group + Raleighwood Event Group founder Lisa Jeffries Nobling was recently interviewed by Raleigh Magazine regarding the “dying art of the RSVP”. Has the RSVP become obsolete? The article delves into the question of whether the RSVP, a long-standing tradition in event planning, has become obsolete in today’s fast-paced digital age. Lisa’s expertise in event management and her role as founder of Raleighwood, which provides commercial and non-profit event management in addition to marketing services, makes her a valuable voice in this discussion.
Through the interview, Lisa sheds light on the challenges and shifts in societal norms that have influenced the decline of RSVPs, as well as the potential impact on event planning and guest experiences. With her knowledge and experience, she provides a fresh perspective on the evolving landscape of RSVPs and their relevance in modern-day meetings and events.
RIP, RSVP?
“Just the opposite, actually. RSVP practice has become even easier to send—and receive—thanks to email and the proliferation of online event management services. For my wedding, I didn’t even depend on the mishap nature (and expense and environmental footprint) of snail mail. We exclusively used a website and email invitations to invite guests and keep track of guest status. … As guests, why leave our hosts worrying if we’ll be in attendance or not? I encourage everyone to confirm their participation by replying Y.”

So, what do you think? Will the convenience and reliability factors of RSVPs through digital management services keep them alive? Will future generations opt out of responses due to their busy schedules? We would love to hear your opinions in the comments!
