Security Innovations from Bank of America

As I was logging into BankofAmerica.com today, this information was delivered to me before my account info:

The new SafePass card is our latest, most advanced technology for Online Banking security, offering you our highest level of convenience, control and protection for your online banking transactions.

Now you can get our most secure feature for Online Banking, SafePass, in a convenient card option to carry in your wallet or purse. Just push the button on your SafePass card and your six-digit code is generated and revealed on the card’s innovative display screen. Whether you use the new SafePass card option or receive your SafePass code as a text message2 to your cell phone, your Online Banking security has never been better.

That’s pretty sweet if you ask me. I know people whose credit cards and online accounts generate one-time use random numbers for them to shop online with, but I’ve never heard of a card that displays it on a screen (ON THE CARD!) or will text it to you.

Makes me re-think the legitimate-ness of texting of business a bit.

There is a one-time fee of $19.99 in the fine print, but that seems small compared to the cost of fixing identity fraud.
